We have all been following the news around potential vaccines this week. Some of the earlier investors which include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation or Dietmar Hopp have achieved both, impact and return. As of today, CureVac has a market capitalization of $11 billion and BioNTech of $26 billion. It is also worth noting that the European Commission already funded the development of the new technology with €2 million in 2012.
Clarity AI has raised $15 million in a financing round led by Deutsche Börse and Mundi Ventures. Clarity AI was founded in Madrid and is now domiciled in Delaware. It is one of many ESG data analytics companies and aims at “contributing to a more socially efficient capital allocation by providing decision makers with the most reliable and comprehensive tools”. In total, they have raised more than $30 million.
Purple Dot has raised €1.5 million in a seed round led by Connect Ventures. The London-based company offers a smart approach to e-commerce companies. In principle, customers can place an offer to buy a specific good at a certain price. Increasing the flexibility of retail prices is an interesting approach which can be applied in other more impact-related contexts as well.
Clim8 Invest has raised €2.7 million in a financing round with funds, business angels and through a crowdfunding platform. The London-based company is planning to launch an app allowing clients to “invest in a sustainable portfolio of carefully selected companies already making a positive impact on climate change”.
