Knokcare has raised €1,7 million in a financing round led by Mustard Seed MAZE. The company with offices in London and Porto offers a video platform where patients can speak with doctors. At the moment, they serve a base of more than 1.2 million patients.

The German Financing Agency for Social Entrepreneurship is a pioneer in the sector. Earlier this week, they have announced the first closing for the European Social Innovation and Impact Fund. Investors in the fund include Investitionsbank Berlin or GLS Treuhand. The fund has a guarantee from the European Investment Fund.

It is rare to see mergers or take-overs in the traditional social sector. When was the last time you’ve heard of a non-profit taking over an association? A few days ago, it was reported that Coderise has acquired Bomberbot for an undisclosed sum. Both are bringing digital skills to children. This acquisition also provides an exit opportunity for Rubio Impact Ventures (formerly known as Social Impact Ventures) which has invested €750,000 in 2017.

The following investment is not really impact-related, but it shows the financialization of an ever increasing number of fields. Knoma has raised GBP21 million in a recent financing round. London-based Knoma offers financing solutions for lifelong learning and wants to “democratize” funding of tech-related education.
