The European Union will offer a number of online and offline sessions under the EaSI Technical Assistance for Social Enterprise Finance programme. The Social Finance Analyst Module’s sessions will take place between March – June 2022. Participants are encouraged to follow all the sessions. However, each session can also be attended as a stand-alone one, without having to follow the whole module or block.

The European Centre for Social Finance with the support of the EaSI technical assistance has developed tools, content and methodologies on social finance analysis that could be shared widely through this module.

The target group of the module is professionals in the social finance field and predominantly professionals at the beginning of their careers. This series will cover the complete investment process and help to understand the tools and practices in the field, as well as learn from best practices and practitioners.
The session will have a hybrid format where roughly 70% will be online and 30% on campus at the Munich Business School. Different tools will be used, including exercises, case studies, site visits and guest speakers.

The Sessions

The sessions will follow a thread resembling to the investment process in the social finance field. They are organised in four blocks:

  1. The sessions will start with impact measurement and management. This will give participants a good understanding of the core concepts of social finance and its differences from traditional investments (namely by achieving impact) and how impact is assessed and evaluated.

  2. The module on financial analysis will cover the valuation of social enterprises and the modelling of a fund over its lifetime.

  3. The two-day on-campus session will focus on peer-to-peer elements, sharing of best practices from local investment managers and case studies.

  4. The deep dives at the end of this cycle will introduce additional relevant topics to the participants.

Participants are encouraged to follow all the sessions. However, each session can also be attended as a stand-alone one, without having to follow the full module or a whole block.

Scheduling and registration

Participation in the online events is not limited. However, the number of participants for the two-day workshop in Munich will be limited to 20 participants.
